WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Aistech Space is looking for an entry-level Back-End developer to be part of the Applications Team in charge of defining, designing and implementing the necessary infrastructure to sustain Aistech Space applications dedicated to the clients.

This new position offers the opportunity to rotate through each applications’ project supporting the development, testing and deployment of software modules related to our in-house and/or cloud infrastructure.

In this role, you are expected to work as a team functioning as an agile, highly collaborative unit focused on short, client-driven development iterations.

You will also be responsible to follow internal standards and good practices in terms of project management (Jira), documentation (Confluence) and time management (Tempo) following an agile approach in your daily work.

The key objectives to be achieved during the rotational period are:

  • Understand Aistech Space mission objectives
  • Work closely with the applications development team.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to continuously improve the back-end infrastructure
  • Recommend adoption of new technologies, products, and services
  • Definition and analysis of back-end software and infrastructure requirements and correspondence implementation in code using an Agile methodology
  • Write testable code, documentation and presentations
  • Actively engage in the development of documentation to build out the company procedures and specification manuals
  • Follow your curiosity to suggest new ideas to make our products and processes better

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Open-minded back-end developer with proven developments
  • Interest in space technologies

 MUST

  • Fluent English speaker
  • Strong knowledge of Python/Bash/Go/NodeJS
  • Experience in API design, concurrency, and distributed systems
  • Experience in data modeling and storage with both NoSQL and relational databases.
  • Knowledge managing web servers (Nginx, Apache, etc.)

DESIRABLE

  • Experience working with containerized applications (e.g. Docker)
  • Knowledge of orchestration systems (e.g. Kubernetes, Google Cloud Platform)
  • Knowledge of cloud integration, cloud computing, and storage.
  • Knowledge of “infrastructure as code” tooling (Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Terraform, etc.)

PLUS

  • BsC/MsC in Information Technologies, Computer Sciences, Engineering and/or Physics, or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge in Disaster Recovery and Backup
  • Knowledge of system performance monitoring tools (Nagios, ELK, etc.)
  • Knowledge of DevOps principles and tools (CI/CD, Jenkins, Git, etc.)

WHERE YOU WILL BE:

You will be located and based in our Edinburgh, Scotland office. Some travel between offices and other potential Aistech and customer locations worldwide may be required. We are open to remote employees, to be evaluated on a case by case basis.
